Hi, I'm Ratha.
I'm a graphic designer based in Columbus, Ohio, with over 14 years of freelance experience and over 2 years of salaried industry experience. I graduated the Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Advertising and Graphic Design in 2022.
Growing up, I've always had a love of art and technology. I was constantly sketching and taking apart old computers to learn how they work. At school I was known as the kid that could draw and at home I was the family's tech support. When I discovered Adobe Photoshop in 2011, the world of art and technology collided for me in the form of graphic design and I've been in love ever since. I started designing local event posters for Cambodian rock & roll/go-go bands, and from there I earned enough to build my first fully custom desktop computer, expanding the possibilities of what I could do and create.
Even now, that natural and intense sense of curiosity has not waned. I'm always pushing myself to learn new skills in areas outside of graphic design that end up serving and enriching the work that I do. I've been a photography enthusiast since 2016 and now have almost a decade of freelance field and studio photography experience. I've learned videography and video editing around the same time, and it has consistently been a part of every branding project since. I also leaped into 3D design software such as Blender to create fluid animations and hyper-realistic graphics for branding commissions, as well as retail promo campaigns and product packaging.
I'm constantly exploring my creative style with influences from fashion, architecture, music, and film. I'm very inspired by the organic roughness and texture of stationery and physical print. I'm inspired by Brutalist architecture and 90s Chicago house. I'm inspired by colliding the old and new.
This is what I love to do and I'm very fortunate to say that I've found my calling.
In total, my skills include (in no particular order): logo design, brand identity, print design, packaging, studio photography, field photography, photo retouching, photo manipulation (with and without the use of AI), videography, video editing, 3D design, 3D motion graphics, and 3D compositing.
